The Canal Ott.r is a an identity used to create NoCeM format cancels for the ott.* newsgroups.
The name was inspired by the CancelMouse. The Ott part is because of we are scanning the ott.* gorups. The Canal part is because Ottawa is famous for its 11km Canal, which can be skated upon in the winter time.
Of course, the Otter is rather intersting in any case. They spend over 48% percent of their time grooming their coats. This would seem to be in analogy to cleaning up Usenet.
Additionally, this page says that they are frequently damaged by oil spills. Is there some analogy of oil shipments to unthinking, inhuman industrialisation? Is this maybe what is happening to the net? The unthinking are here to make a buck, and derail the good that more open communication could allow our society to perform?
At present, this is not automated. It will be when some more clear criteria is established.
If you wish to pay attention to these NoCeM messages, you will need the public key for the Canal Otter.
I do not issue cancel messages. If you do not like my criteria, don't process my messages.
At present, messages are selected by MCR manually, when seen. This may be automated in the future.
Nothing from ott.business.ads will be considered at present.
At present no-one is issuing NoCeM messages for the Ottawa regional groups. There are several news servers (including my own) in the area that do not honour cancel messages.
